It is with a heavy heart that we announce that LiHigh School will be closing down at the end of this school year. On July 1, 2024, the  LiHigh School will no longer exist.

Those who have followed the school remember that our owners, Greg and Daniela Rosenthal, retired last year. Since then, they’ve been working to pass the school on to our colleagues, Jen Calvey and Stuart Gerrol.

Unfortunately, we’ve now learned that the change in ownership will require the school to get a new license from the State Board of Education. The state currently has a moratorium on reviewing and approving new independent schools. Once they lift the moratorium, the process could take up to an additional three years. During that time, we would not be able to receive public funds, provide special-education services, or offer high school diplomas that count with the state’s approval.

So, we can’t keep the school going after June 30th.

Between now and then, we will work closely with our students’ special education team to make sure every student finds a new school that meets their needs, especially for behavior and social-emotional support.

We will also work tirelessly to make sure every student is ready for the change. We want to make sure they have the  social and emotional skills to be successful in their new school.

We cannot express the depth of our sorrow. We wish we could continue to deliver the most holistic, trauma-informed, progressive, growth-oriented, deeply personalized, specialized education services to our students and their families.

It has truly been an honor to be a member of the community and to educate all of the children who have passed through our doors.

Do not hesitate to get in touch.

We'll get back to you within 48hrs.
